Thank you Mike for your dedicated service as a Marine in Vietnam, along with your continued fight to protect our homefront here in Chicago.
Rest in Peace our brother, your work here is done. 19 Paul, Semper Fi.

I met Mike before he became a Chicago Police Officer. We went to Marine Corp boot camp in San Diego. After boot camp we lost contact until one day we met while working. I don’t remember were it was but we met a few time after that also. We would talk about our boot camp experience. I retire from the CPD in January 2001 and every now and then I would look at my MCRD yearbook and think about all the fellow Marines and wonder how we all made out. Mike made it back from Vietnam and I hope he had a great life and family.

Rest in peace Michael, I too was on the CPD, I’m sorry our paths never crossed on the job. I retired in the last century.

Your mother Florence, and my mother, Jean Ryan grew up together on Warwick Avenue and remained friends for years.

I remember your sister Kathleen most of all, too many years ago to count. People move away to different neighborhoods

and loose grasp of old friends. God bless your family and keep them safe.

I knew Mike since I was 13 yrs. old. He was the St. Bart’s kid and I was the Gray school kid. After we knew we were cut from the same cloth we became close friends. His sense of humor was only one of many redeeming qualities. We went into the Corps together 11/26/65 and when we both returned from Vietnam unbruised Mike went on to serve in the CPD. His crowning achievement was when he met Wanda and they became modern day “Fred and Ginger” at the Cheetah. He loved Wanda more than anyone could think possible so they went ahead and created a beautiful family together. Hard times and great times were woven throughout their lives together but their Love was unending. I loved Mike and will miss him dearly. Wanda….stay strong and continue to love and smile. Norge
