I always looked forward to seeing Joe at Wilco events. He was so kind, sweet, and had a gentle warming nature about him. His presence will be missed. May his light and memory live on in all of us.

I first met Joe in January 2022, but I felt like I’d known him for much longer. We were all so joyful to be at Wilco’s Sky Blue Sky festival, despite all the Covid fear and mania. I quickly bonded with Joe thanks to his dry humor and keen observations of the goings on. During the Solid Sound festival later the same year, Joe kept a close eye over me as I was coping with the heat. So kind, compassionate.

At the end of the summer, Joe knew I was feeling very low, grieving the loss of my dog. He kindly extended an invitation for me to join him at Beach Road Weekend in Martha’s Vineyard. We deepened our friendship over that weekend and I will never forget the kindness and sensitivity he shared, knowing I needed the emotional lift.

The last time I saw Joe was at the most recent Sky Blue Sky festival in December. He was happy, relaxed, funny, joyful and looked fantastic. I cherish the memories with Joe and am so deeply sad for his family. We all loved Joe so much and will miss him forever.

I am happy that I got to know Joe over the past couple of years through our Wilco community. He was such a kind, genuine person who always went out of his way for everyone. My favorite memory is our trip to Iceland to see Wilco. Joe took a bus to meet me at the Blue Lagoon hot springs right after I landed. We had a drink, floated, chatted, and did mud masks in the lagoon. It was a lovely experience and a nice way to start my Iceland experience.

Iwill miss Joe’s smile, wit, and generous spirit and am glad I got to be his friend. May he rest in peace.
